Viewers of last Friday\u2019s Late Late Show<\/a> may have missed a brief notice just before the show aired in relation to this week\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n

It announced there will be a break from the regular schedule this Friday, March 6, with host Patrick Kielty and co taking a rare Friday night off. There was no explanation at the time, but RT\u00c9 has confirmed to the Irish Examiner that they expect regular viewers will instead be cheering on the rugby at that time.<\/p>\n

An RT\u00c9 spokesperson said:\u00a0 “The Late Late Show\u00a0will not air this Friday night as Ireland take on Wales in the Six Nations<\/a>. Coverage of the match begins on RT\u00c92 and RT\u00c9 Player from 7pm, where rugby fans can get behind the boys in green.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wales will take on the Ireland squad<\/a> at the Aviva Stadium on Friday night, and Ireland have not lost at home to Wales in the Six Nations since 2012.<\/p>\n

RT\u00c9 added that regular scheduling will resume next week, on Friday, March 13, when the Late Late Show\u00a0returns with a St Patrick\u2019s Day special. In its place, It\u2019s Complicated, a romantic comedy starring Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin, will air this Friday on RT\u00c9 One at 9.35pm.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not the first time there has been a Late Late Show-shaped gap in the schedule \u2014 last year, for example, the long-running talk show did not run on Good Friday. RT\u00c9 also confirmed there will be no Late Late Show on Good Friday this year, which falls on April 3.<\/p>\n
