Garda\u00ed failed to secure the arrest of Martina and Ammi Burke on Friday after officers arrived at the Burke family home in Castlebar, the Burke family have claimed.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday, March 4, a High Court judge sentenced Enoch Burke\u2019s mother Martina and sister Ammi to two weeks in jail each<\/a> after finding them guilty of contempt of court. The two had been removed from court on February 20 for “shouting and roaring” during a hearing.<\/p>\n

Ammi and Martina Burke were not in court when Mr Justice Brian Cregan delivered his judgment and he ordered garda\u00ed to arrest the two women immediately.<\/p>\n

While the two women remained at liberty on Thursday, a video posted to the Enoch Burke social media X account on Friday evening showed garda\u00ed attempting to secure their arrest, but eventually leaving empty handed.<\/p>\n

In the short video, a number of garda\u00ed<\/a> can be seen outside the Burke family home in Castlebar, Co. Mayo attempting to find the location of Martina and Ammi. Eventually the officers leave, without having made any arrests.<\/p>\n

\u201cGarda\u00ed flood Burke family home to arrest and imprison Enoch Burke\u2019s mother and sister,\u201d his sibling wrote on the Enoch Burke X account.<\/p>\n

\u201cA sad day in our country when An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na can spare eight guards to come to the Burke family home to arrest Martina and Ammi Burke. Enoch Burke has now spent 600 days in prison. He refused to use \u201cthey\/them\u201d pronouns for a child.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na has received a court order relating to contempt of court by two individuals. An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na does not comment on the detail of ongoing operations.”<\/p>\n
