A body has been recovered by Garda\u00ed <\/a>and members of the Irish Coast Guard after being discovered along a beach in East Cork by a member of the public earlier this week.<\/p>\n Members of the Guileen Coast Guard were informed of the discovery at Ballycroneen Strand<\/a> on Wednesday morning, and Garda\u00ed were alerted as they rushed to the scene. They were accompanied by medical professionals, who formally pronounced the man dead after a brief examination.<\/p>\n The deceased is a male aged in his 40s, and Garda\u00ed are conducting enquiries into the incident; however, it’s understood that foul play is not suspected at this time. A post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.<\/p>\n A Garda spokesperson told CorkBeo: “Garda\u00ed were alerted to an incident where an unresponsive male was found in the Ballycroneen Strand area, Co. Cork, on Wednesday, 4th March 2026, at approximately 9:30 am.<\/p>\n “The male in his 40s was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has since been removed from the scene, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. Enquiries are ongoing.”<\/p>\n Members of the Guileen Coast Guard thanked the public for alerting them to the incident and gave their condolences to the family of the deceased.<\/p>\n A spokesperson said: “Guileen Coast Guard Unit were tasked [on Wednesday] morning at 09.30 to reports of a body washed ashore at Ballybranigan Beach. The body was later removed by Guileen Coast Guard.<\/p>\n “We want to thank the members of the public for reporting the incident.
