{"id":335611,"date":"2026-03-08T16:28:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T16:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/335611\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T16:28:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T16:28:10","slug":"sister-of-matthew-broderick-officially-made-priest-of-five-donegal-parishes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/335611\/","title":{"rendered":"Sister of Matthew Broderick officially made priest of five Donegal parishes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Reverend Janet Broderick has officially been made Priest-in-charge of five Donegal parishes.<\/p>\n<p>Her appointment was confirmed at a special Service of Introduction at the Inniskeel Parish Church on Friday night.<\/p>\n<p>Rev Broderick will lead churches in the Ardara, Glencolumbkille, Glenties, Inniskeel and Lettermacaward Group of parishes, under the Church of Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>The New York City native is also the sister of Hollywood star Matthew Broderick.<\/p>\n<p>She has been welcomed to her new role in Donegal with open arms, with members of all five parishes represented at Saturday\u2019s Service of Introduction.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Andrew Forster, welcomed Janet\u2019s arrival in the county, saying that parishoners were \u201cdelighted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted that you are here, Janet. We believe that God has sent you to us and we know that God will bless you as you serve amongst us,\u201d Bishop Forster said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe journey of faith is also a journey of sacrifice,\u201d the Bishop said, \u201cand tonight there\u2019s a sense of sacrifice because in about five minutes time, Ireland will play Wales, and here we are.
