<\/p>\nComedian Jason Byrne is closing down his main entertainment firm which has accumulated \u20ac1.3million in wealth up to 2024, newly-filed company records reveal.<\/p>\n
The move comes after the popular Dubliner opened up about his \u2018traumatic\u2019 2018 divorce from long-term wife Brenda at the start of this year.<\/p>\n
Byrne and his former wife of 14 years, who have two children, kept the painful divorce secret for six months after the breakup occurred.<\/p>\n
But six years ago he found love again with girlfriend Tracy Power, whom he met at a photo op.<\/p>\n
Despite the 2018 divorce, Brenda remained a director and joint owner of Jason Byrne Entertainment Ltd until last summer when the company bought back her 50 per cent share for a nominal sum and she was replaced as a director.<\/p>\n
Now, the firm has just applied to the Company Registrations Office to be wound up voluntarily.<\/p>\n
Dundalk-based accountant Tony McBride has been appointed as liquidator. Mr McBride did not comment when his office was contacted this week.<\/p>\n
According to the company\u2019s most recent accounts, it had accumulated more than \u20ac1.3million in net assets by the end of 2024.<\/p>\n

From that income, Byrne and his former wife, shared remuneration of \u20ac264,000 that year – a figure that is typical of previous years.<\/p>\n
In 2024, the net assets of the company comprised: Debtors of \u20ac167,060; Cash at hand and in bank of \u20ac479,520; Other financial assets worth \u20ac727,000.<\/p>\n
When the \u20ac42,111 worth of creditors due within a year is taken into account, it means the value of the company in 2024 was \u20ac1,331,709<\/p>\n
Since accounts for 2025 are not yet due, the state of the company\u2019s finances last year remain unknown.<\/p>\n
But with Mr Byrne\u2019s success and popularity ever on the increase, his bank balance is likely to have remained healthy.<\/p>\n
The comedian\u2019s Head In The Clouds Irish tour has so far sold out eight of its 17 shows.<\/p>\n
A further 32-date UK tour begins in June and carries on to the end of November.<\/p>\n
Rather than indicating any financial stress, it is instead likely that any changes to Byrne\u2019s company represent a routine reorganisation of his business affairs as he builds on previous success.<\/p>\n
He established a new performing arts firm called Uncarvedblock Ltd in April 2025 at his home address in Meath.<\/p>\n
Opening up about his new relationship in January, Jason told our sister online news site Evoke: \u2018My partner Tracy works for Arc Cancer. Tracy is ten years younger but I\u2019m like a five-year-old so she\u2019s mentally older than me.<\/p>\n
\u2018She\u2019s great. It\u2019s lovely to have that. We don\u2019t live together yet. Me and my son live out in Ashbourne and she lives in town. Maybe down the line – the usual – but I\u2019m quite happy right now.\u2019<\/p>\n
But asked if he would consider getting married again, the 53-year-old replied: \u2018No f*****g way. Not a chance. Never ever.<\/p>\n
\u2018I said to Tracy that if you ever want to get married to me, we can go into a field with flowers in your hair and you can skip around with your mates but I\u2019m not signing anything ever again.\u2019<\/p>\n
Byrne also has other business investments.<\/p>\n
Company records show he owns a 10 per cent share in a firm called Actus Investments Ltd, which posted losses of \u20ac158,000 in 2023.<\/p>\n
Until 2023, he also owned 50 per cent of another company called Special Eye Entertainment before he left the firm, transferring his shares to a fellow investor.<\/p>\n
In 2020, spurred on by the closure of the live circuit during the pandemic, Byrne also partnered with Kilkenny tech entrepreneur, Brendan Morrisey, to launch a new comedy app called iLaugh.<\/p>\n
The app is run through a firm called iLaugh ltd. However, Byrne left the firm as an owner and director in October 2021.<\/p>\n
