A Status Yellow wind warning is in place for Donegal, Galway and Mayo.<\/p>\n
The warning came into effect at 6pm this evening and will last until 5am tomorrow.<\/p>\n
Strong and gusty southwesterly winds are forecast, especially in coastal areas.<\/p>\n
Met \u00c9ireann has warned of difficult travelling conditions as a possible impact of the weather conditions.<\/p>\n
It has also warned of the risk of debris, loose objects being displaced and fallen branches and trees resulting from the strong winds.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Drivetime, Mark Bowe from Met \u00c9ireann said there is a front moving in this evening and it is starting to get cloudier with rain pushing in.<\/p>\n
“Behind that front is where the winds are getting quite strong, especially across the west and northwest. That’s Connacht and parts of Ulster as well,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Those winds will be very strong and blustery, especially around the coast in areas like Galway, Mayo and Donegal.<\/p>\n
“We’re going to see some very strong winds later on this evening. That will go all the way through until about tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n
“So we may see some falling trees. Any loose debris will get blown around.”<\/p>\n
He said that there will be some difficult travel conditions especially near coastal areas.<\/p>\n
