Anton Stach made a record of his own in Leeds United\u2019s win over Wolves on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Leeds wiped the floor with Wolves to secure a 3-1 victory<\/a> on Saturday afternoon, finally sparking some much-needed optimism after a dull few weeks.<\/p>\n Stach gave Leeds the lead in the first half<\/a> with a sublime free-kick from long range, not long before Noah Okafor made sure of all three points.<\/p>\n However, by scoring that free-kick, Stach<\/a> did something for the first time in four years, with Kalvin Phillips<\/a> the last player to have achieved the feat.<\/p>\n Anyone who watched pre-season will have been aware of what Stach can do, having scored a screamer from range in Leeds\u2019 draw with AC Milan<\/a>.<\/p>\n Albeit from a set piece, he replicated that at Molilneux, with a pass-like finish into the top right corner, leaving Jose Sa helpless in the Wolves goal.<\/p>\n However, the last player to have scored their first Premier League goal from a free-kick was Leeds\u2019 Phillips, back in 2021, as shared by OptaJoe on X.<\/p>\n The Englishman found the back of the net from range against West Brom, in a rather ironic 3-1 victory over the Baggies.<\/p>\n In general, Stach was superb for Leeds against Wolves, and the Whites will be keen to see more of him as the season goes on.<\/p>\n 2021 \u2013 Anton Stach is the first player to score his first ever Premier League goal by a direct free-kick since Kalvin Phillips also did so for Leeds United against West Brom in May 2021.
