Michael Lowry has said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has decided against bringing charges against him arising from the Moriarty Tribunal.<\/p>\n
The Independent TD described the tribunal report as \u201cflawed\u201d and based on \u201cconjecture, manipulation and speculation\u201d.<\/p>\n
The tribunal was established in September 1997 to examine payments to former taoiseach Charles Haughey and Lowry.<\/p>\n
The tribunal\u2019s final report was published in March 2011 and found that Lowry, a former Fine Gael TD, helped businessman Denis O\u2019Brien secure the State\u2019s second mobile phone licence in 1995.<\/p>\n

In his statement on Facebook on Tuesday evening, Lowry said: \u201cIts findings have allowed me to be subjected to repeated insults, smears and false allegations, with no legal remedy available to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cI fully co-operated with the garda\u00ed and voluntarily met them and answered all questions.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter the garda\u00ed finished their extensive investigation, a file was sent to the DPP in late 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow 15 months later, the DPP, the State\u2019s Independent Prosecutor, having fully and carefully reviewed the file, has issued a direction that there will be no prosecution of me.\u201d<\/p>\n
In a statement, garda\u00ed said: \u201cWe do not comment on named individuals or third party statements.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe office of the DPP has directed no prosecution in respect of this matter.<\/p>\n
\u201cAn Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na will not be commenting further.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his statement, Lowry thanked his family, friends and \u201cthe people of Tipperary and North Kilkenny for the unwavering faith and trust they placed in me\u201d.<\/p>\n
