A digital health coach is doing more than motivating users. The creator of the app Obeo says it can predict your next sick day before you have symptoms. That creator is a Michigan State student.<\/p>\n
The app launched in January, and funding boosted its value to about $3 million. <\/p>\n
Whether you travel for work or you\u2019re an athlete who travels to train and compete, we know being on-the-go can affect your workout regimen. A Metro Detroit student has created an app she says will help optimize your health goals.<\/p>\n
This brand new predictive health app is the brainchild of Kaur, a 21-year-old Michigan State senior from Farmington Hills.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe forecast your health like the weather, things like sicknesses, like what you\u2019re picking up while flying, like those are things that we should be able to know in advance,\u201d Kaur said.<\/p>\n
The app uses health data you choose to sync, environmental details from your destination, and social media comments to predict outcomes.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have a 19% allergy risk influenced by the humidity,\u201d Kaur said. \u201cIt will exacerbate allergic reactions and respiratory issues. These are the three things that you can do to actually prevent that.\u201d<\/p>\n
For athletes who travel to train and compete, Obeo could offer a competitive edge.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery morning, you know, I kind of open the app and kind of there\u2019s some tips on how I\u2019m already gonna feel, and I\u2019m like, man, I\u2019ll feel a certain type of way, and it\u2019ll like predict that,\u201d Caleb Gash, a sophomore defensive back at MSU, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI actually played at Oregon, and something that we really didn\u2019t take into account was the time difference of three hours,\u201d Gash said. \u201cAnd that kind of affected play a lot more than we initially anticipated.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe use maps to pinpoint location,\u201d Kaur said.<\/p>\n
Using AI, Kaur taught herself how to code and built Obeo in three months from scratch.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fact that she is kind of thinking about this stuff on ways to get ahead of the game for real, I think, is definitely important,\u201d Gash said.<\/p>\n
Kaur says she designed the app to work like a personal health coach in the palm of your hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that was like the single biggest line and breakthrough I had this past year, that I actually have control over a lot of things in my life,\u201d Kaur said.<\/p>\n
Kaur is no stranger to being an entrepreneur. At 8 years old, she launched her first venture, a dog-sitting business.<\/p>\n
