After a time where it felt like getting new\u00a0Rick and Morty<\/a> episodes was akin to a gold rush, the show\u2019s entered a pretty comfortable pace<\/a> entering its ninth season\u2014now arriving a year on from our last zany adventures<\/a> with the titular team-up. But it\u2019s not just consistency the show is promising for its return\u2014but good old-fashioned, human-made slop.<\/p>\n

\u201cRick and Morty is back, baby! Season Nine is all certified bangers,\u201d the official synopsis for the new season reads in part. \u201cNo AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts. Please watch, or we\u2019ll have neglected our families for nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

There\u2019s definitely a lot of substances in Rick and Morty\u2019s cross-dimensional shenanigans you could describe as slop, but at least it\u2019s nice to see the show coming out swinging against the artificial kind. It\u2019s not only the synopsis being irreverent this time around, either.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it\u2019s my job to say that this show just keeps topping itself, but it also has the benefit of being true,\u201d Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen said in an accompanying press release. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of scary what this show unit is doing season over season\u2014just pouring an absurd amount of talent and brilliance into these episodes. From the first frame, you\u2019re going to see great high\u2011concept insanity with some of the best character writing ever done. Again, it\u2019s my job to say that, but it\u2019s also true.\u201d<\/p>\n

Season 9 of\u00a0Rick and Morty will debut on Adult Swim on May 24, with episodes becoming available for purchase digitally the day after broadcast. The whole season will start streaming in the US from August 31, and the show\u2019s first spinoff<\/a>,\u00a0President Curtis, is still expected to broadcast<\/a> later this year.\u00a0Check out a few more new images from the season below!<\/p>\n
