Conan O\u2019Brien has looked ahead to presenting the Oscars<\/a> on March 15th and revealed the one nominated movie that he\u2019s not been able to find the funny in.<\/p>\n After his successful debut as host in 2025, O\u2019Brien is set to return for the second consecutive year on March 15th, with the ceremony set to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n On March 11th, O\u2019Brien<\/a> opened up about his preparation for the big day while on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, revealing that he\u2019s been playing unannounced club gigs in unexpected areas, sharing, \u201cI love showing up where no one expects me to be there. They don\u2019t particularly want me to be there, and it\u2019s really fun just to pop up.\u201d<\/p>\n He then revealed that, despite the best efforts of him and his writing team, they have been unable to seduce laughs from an audience about one particular film, admitting, \u201cThere are times where there are certain areas we cannot crack. One of them is the movie Train Dreams. Can\u2019t get a good joke for Train Dreams, which maybe means there is no good joke for Train Dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n Train Dreams, starring Joel Edgerton and Felicity Jones, is nominated at the Oscars for \u2018Best Picture\u2019, as well as \u2018Best Adapted Screenplay\u2019, \u2018Best Cinematography\u2019, and \u2018Best Original Song\u2019.<\/p>\n It follows Edgerton\u2019s character, Robert Grainier, across eight decades in the life of a railroad construction worker in early 20th-century America, which, according to O\u2019Brien, isn\u2019t ripe for light comedic material at awards shows.<\/p>\n O\u2019Brien said of his writing team\u2019s efforts, \u201cI think they\u2019ve written 5000 jokes for Train Dreams. Not one of them is any good. And these are very good writers, so I blame Train Dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n While he said it\u2019s a \u201cbeautiful movie\u201d, O\u2019Brien hinted that he\u2019ll choose to leave it out of his monologue at the ceremony.<\/p>\n Later, in the conversation with Kimmel, he was asked to share any jokes that \u201cyou\u2019ve decided you will not do\u201d, which saw O\u2019Brien share one of the 5,000 Train Dreams<\/a> jokes.<\/p>\n He shared, \u201cThis is the best Train Dreams joke out of 5000. Train Dreams was nominated for \u2018Best Picture\u2019. Finally, a movie that proves being a Pacific Northwest lumberjack in the early 1900s wasn\u2019t as fun as it sounds.\u201d<\/p>\n Although it did get laughter from the Kimmel crowd, it\u2019s unlikely to blow the roof off the Dolby Theatre on March 15th.<\/p>\n Joining Conan at the Oscars will be Matt Berry, who will be the announcer at the ceremony. A star-studded cast of presenters, including Kieran Culkin, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Anne Hathaway, Chase Infiniti, Mikey Madison, Paul Mescal, Demi Moore, Kumail Nanjiani, Gwyneth Paltrow, Maya Rudolph and Zoe Salda\u00f1a, will also be assisting during proceedings.<\/p>\n
