Harry Styles<\/a>\u00a0has\u00a0opened up\u00a0about the meaning of his new song \u2018Dance No More\u2019 \u2013 read what he had to say below.<\/p>\n

The former One Direction<\/a> singer released his new album \u2018Kiss All\u00a0The Time. Disco, Occasionally<\/a>\u2019 last week (March 6), and one of the early fan favourites on the record is the track \u2018Dance No More\u2019, which Styles wrote alongside the album\u2019s producer Kid Harpoon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with BBC Radio 1\u2019s Jack Saunders, Styles was asked a \u201cvery deep question\u201d about the song, with Saunders referring to the lyric,\u00a0\u201cthere\u2019s no difference in between the tears and the sweat\u201d, and asking if that could also apply to Styles\u2019 own state of mind during the making of the album.<\/p>\n

Styles replied:\u00a0\u201cI think\u00a0anyone who\u2019s been in the middle of a dancefloor like that, and felt that release that you get from feeling that free, when you\u2019re\u00a0really\u00a0feeling your body\u00a0and moving that way, and having experiences with music that can feel really emotional,\u00a0I think knows that feeling of, \u2018I\u2019m just covered in tears and sweat and it\u2019s all the same\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Styles went on to\u00a0say\u00a0\u2018Dance No More\u2019 was his \u201cattempt\u201d to write a song that shares a sentiment with Joni Mitchell<\/a>\u2019s 1974 song \u2018People\u2019s Parties\u2019, specifically\u00a0the\u00a0lyric, \u201cLaughing and crying, you know it\u2019s the same release\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s probably less about my experience, and more about life,\u201d Styles added. \u201cLaughing and crying, it\u2019s the same release.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the chorus of the song, Styles sings, \u201cDJs don\u2019t dance no more, they said\u201d, and elsewhere in the interview, he revealed that when his father first heard the song, he thought the line was in fact, \u201cDJs don\u2019t dance no more, they sit\u201d,\u00a0which he said would have been an \u201cinsane\u201d lyric.<\/p>\n

Last Friday (March 6),\u00a0Styles performed \u2018Kiss All The Time\u2026\u2019 in full at a special \u2018One Night Only\u2019 concert in Manchester<\/a>. The show was\u00a0recorded for a new Netflix special<\/a>, and featured an encore of hits including \u2018As It Was\u2019 and \u2018Watermelon Sugar\u2019.\u00a0He gifted 50 pairs of tickets for the phone-free gig to pupils at his former school<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis album is out in the world now, and it means so, so much to me,\u201d he told the audience. \u201cI hope that maybe one day it might mean a little something to you. I hope you have fun with it, I hope you have good times to it, I hope maybe one day it helps you through something hard as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Styles will embark on his seven-city \u2018Together, Together\u2019 tour<\/a>\u00a0this\u00a0spring. The trek boasts\u00a0a record-breaking 12-night stint at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium<\/a>\u00a0and a huge 30-date residency in New York.<\/p>\n

In\u00a0a four-star review<\/a>,\u00a0NME\u00a0described \u2018Kiss All\u00a0The\u00a0Time\u2026\u2019 as \u201can album that you\u2019ll really want to spend a lot of time with, letting all its layers envelope you\u201d.\u00a0It read: \u201cIt\u2019s the most exploratory album of his career so far, trying out new things and steering his ship in new directions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Styles gave \u2018Aperture\u2019 its live debut at the BRITs 2026<\/a>\u00a0last\u00a0month. He recently explained that follow-up single\u00a0\u2018American Girls\u2019 was about watching his friends get married<\/a>, saying: \u201cIt\u2019s actually quite a lonely song in a lot of ways.\u201d<\/p>\n

He has also played a\u00a0BBC Radio 1<\/a>\u00a0Live Lounge set,\u00a0including a cover of Tears\u00a0For\u00a0Fears\u2019 \u2018Everybody Wants\u00a0To\u00a0Rule\u00a0The\u00a0World\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere,\u00a0the singer made a cameo appearance during Ryan Gosling\u2019s opening monologue on\u00a0Saturday Night Live\u00a0last week<\/a>, ahead of Styles pulling double duty on the show this weekend.<\/p>\n

In other news,\u00a0Styles has explained the reasoning behind hosting residencies in multiple cities instead of embarking on a full global tour<\/a>. The singer has\u00a0remembered how watching Radiohead perform in Berlin had inspired him to play live again<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n
