A pedestrian, aged in his 40s, has died following a collision with a car in Cork on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The crash occurred between junction 11 and junction 12 northbound on the M8 motorway at Carrigane, Mitchelstown at around 9:15pm.<\/p>\n
A pedestrian, a man aged in his 40s, was fatally injured as a result of the collision.<\/p>\n
His body has since been removed to the mortuary in Cork University Hospital where an autopsy will be carried out.<\/p>\n
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 20s, was uninjured.<\/p>\n
The M8 motorway between junction 11 and junction 12 northbound is currently closed pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.<\/p>\n
Diversions are in place.<\/p>\n
Garda\u00ed are now appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.<\/p>\n
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: “Garda\u00ed are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision to make this footage available to Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
