The R&B singer is the first act signed up for the \u2018Under The Giant Festival\u2019, which will take place at Bray Wanderers’ Carlisle Grounds, from Thursday, August 20 to Sunday, August 23.<\/p>\n

The festival is being brought to the seaside town by independent live events promoter, Bad Apple, which produces concerts and events across Ireland and the UK.<\/p>\n

Bad Apple\u2019s Zack Dutton explained the aim of the series is to bring international headline artists to \u201cwhat is one of the most beautiful coastal settings in the country\u201d.<\/p>\n

“Craig David is the first act to be announced with further artists to follow in the coming weeks,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe shows are promoted by Bad Apple in partnership with Bray Wanderers FC and the venue will host up to 4,999 people per night. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere is also a personal connection for me,\u201d he added. \u201cMy grandparents are from Bray and my grandfather, Joe Dutton, was one of the founders of Bray Wanderers. As a child he would point out a rock formation on Bray Head that looks like a sleeping giant. That is where the name Under The Giant comes from.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the UK\u2019s most celebrated artists, Craig David rose to global fame with chart-topping hits including 7 Days, Fill Me In, Re-Rewind and Walking Away.<\/p>\n

His acclaimed TS5 show sees Craig behind the decks blending old school R&B, garage, house and chart hits while performing his biggest songs.<\/p>\n

Having sold out venues and festivals around the world, TS5 is known for its high-energy atmosphere and party feel, bringing together DJ sets, live vocals and crowd interaction in one seamless show.<\/p>\n

This special outdoor performance will see Craig David bring TS5 to Bray for an “unforgettable summer night by the sea\u201d.<\/p>\n

While this is set to be Bray\u2019s biggest ever outdoor concert, the town does have a rich history of big-name acts playing to local revellers in the past.<\/p>\n

The former venue the Arcadia Ballroom (which was located near the current Bray railway station, but was demolished to make way for apartments in 2019) was a premier venue for showbands and international acts.<\/p>\n

The Who, Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, Thin Lizzy and The Miami Showband all played at the venue in the 1960s\/1970s, when it had a capacity of up to 5,000 people. <\/p>\n
