Looking for a good movie (or more) to tuck into this weekend? Well, we have you covered with a list of the best new additions to streamers such as Netflix<\/a> and BBC iPlayer in the past week.<\/p>\n

Among the highlights is an “unpredictable” Jodie Comer survival thriller, as well as a recent-ish Oscar<\/a> juggernaut to get you in the mood for this year’s Academy Awards on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Best movie new to Netflix this week<\/p>\n

I Swear: This recent biopic became a BAFTA<\/a> hit last month, with Robert Aramayo unexpectedly winning the Best Actor prize over Hollywood heavyweights for his powerful portrayal of John Davidson.<\/p>\n

The film follows the central subject’s life and struggles with Tourette syndrome \u2013 which causes those with it to make sudden involuntary sounds or movements, known as tics \u2013 before campaigning for better awareness around the condition.<\/p>\n

Sitting at a perfect Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> score based on 40 reviews, Digital Spy<\/a> called I Swear “a funny, heartbreaking and ultimately uplifting watch”.<\/p>\n

Also new to Netflix this week: Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere, Double Jeopardy<\/p>\n

Best movie new to Prime Video this week<\/p>\n

The Godfather: Widely considered one of the greatest movies ever made, this 1972 flick centres on mafia family the Corleones as reluctant son Michael (Al Pacino) takes over from ageing patriarch Vito (Marlon Brando).<\/p>\n

Adapted from Mario Puzo’s novel of the same name, The Godfather was called a film that “established new benchmarks for American cinema” by Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, and spawned two sequels \u2013 the first of which is considered as good if not better than the original.<\/p>\n

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the movie also stars James Caan, Robert Duvall, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, John Cazale and Richard S Castellano.<\/p>\n

Also new to Prime Video this week: The Cabin in the Woods, Inside Man (2006), Shutter Island, Top Gun, Ma, Super 8<\/p>\n

Best movie new to BBC iPlayer this week<\/p>\n

The End We Start From: This dystopian drama was called “unpredictable” by Empire<\/a>, who added that it contains “moments of emotional power” thanks to central star Jodie Comer’s performance.<\/p>\n

The film takes place in an ecological disaster after London is flooded, as a woman and her newborn baby try to find their way home.<\/p>\n

Benedict Cumberbatch, Katherine Waterston and Mark Strong are among the supporting cast in director Mahalia Belo’s 2023 movie, which is based on the book of the same name by Megan Hunter.<\/p>\n

Also new to BBC iPlayer this week: Platoon, Blade Runner 2049, Shaun the Sheep Movie, Pride<\/p>\n

Best movie new to ITVX this week<\/p>\n

Minority Report: If you’re in the mood for a dystopian thriller of a different nature, then this 2002 Steven Spielberg classic has just arrived on ITVX.<\/p>\n

Starring Tom Cruise, Minority Report takes place in 2054 as Washington DC police use technology to arrest criminals before they commit crimes. However, when commanding officer John Anderton is himself accused of a future murder, he becomes a fugitive.<\/p>\n

The movie was called “captivating” by The Blu Spot<\/a>, and sits at an impressive 89% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also new to ITVX this week: Kill Bill Vol 1, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom<\/p>\n

Best movie new to Channel 4 this week<\/p>\n

Everything Everywhere All At Once: This zany indie became a huge success when it was released in 2022, going on to dominate the Oscars with seven wins, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh.<\/p>\n

The movie focuses on the aforementioned star’s character Evelyn Quan Wang, a laundromat owner who finds herself thrust into a multiverse adventure to stop a powerful being destroying everything \u2013 all while she is being audited by the IRS.<\/p>\n

Exploring immigrant and queer themes, the Daniels’ movie was called “an endlessly creative, goofy, and ultimately heartfelt film” by The Asian Cut<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also new to Channel 4 this week: Minari, The Quiet Girl, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Erin Brockovich, The Father<\/p>\n
