A woman bleeding from a head wound locked herself into a bathroom to get away from a 25-year-old man who later fled from the scene and was stopped by garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
These were the allegations made at Cork District Court in the case against Chindo Emeaugbor of Summerhill, Mallow, who faces a charge of assault causing harm.<\/p>\n
Judge Mary Dorgan refused jurisdiction after hearing the allegations.<\/p>\n
Sergeant Aisling Murphy said the alleged incident occurred at Washington Court, Anne Street, Cork.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn May 16 2025 at 11am garda\u00ed received a 999 call from a female alleging that she had been assaulted by a male who was known to her after a verbal disagreement. She said she had been struck in the forehead and was bleeding from the wound, and had locked herself in the bathroom.”<\/p>\n
The court heard that garda\u00ed arrived and found the injured party was on the road with family members. An ambulance arrived.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe alleged offender had just fled in a car,” said Sgt Murphy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\n “Gardai observed the vehicle on Washington Street. It was eventually stopped a short time later on South Main Street. The driver, now known to garda\u00ed as Chindo Emeaugbor, was subsequently arrested and conveyed to the Brideweil garda station.”\n <\/p>\n
The injured party was assessed by paramedics and later received six stitches to her forehead. A statement of complaint was taken from her where she alleged that she was struck by Chindo Emeaugbor.<\/p>\n
Judge Dorgan said after hearing the allegations that she was refusing jurisdiction and viewed the nature of the injury as too serious.<\/p>\n
The case was then adjourned until April 29 to allow time for further directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions.<\/p>\n
