An explosion has damaged a Jewish school in Amsterdam, according to Dutch officials.<\/p>\n
The city’s mayor Femke Halsema said she believed the blast was a “deliberate attack against the Jewish community”.<\/p>\n
The incident happened early on Saturday, and police and fire services responded quickly.<\/p>\n
Damage to the school in a residential neighbourhood on the south side \u200bof Amsterdam was limited.<\/p>\n
And no injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n
Police are investigating camera footage appearing to show the person who detonated the explosive.<\/p>\n
“This \u200bis a cowardly act \u200bof aggression against the Jewish community,” Ms \u200bHalsema said.<\/p>\n
“Jewish people in Amsterdam are \u2060increasingly confronted with antisemitism. This is unacceptable.”<\/p>\n
Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten \u200bcalled the attack in Amsterdam “horrible” and said it understandably \u2060caused “fear and
anger” in the Jewish community.<\/p>\n
“The safety of Jewish institutions has our full attention,” he said in a \u2060post on X.<\/p>\n
Tight security at Jewish schools and institutions has been strengthened even more following attacks in recent days on synagogues in Rotterdam and in Liege, Belgium.<\/p>\n
