Viewers have heaped praise on Jonathan Rhys Meyers following his return to the Late Late Show on its St Patrick\u2019s Day special.<\/p>\n

Jonathan, one of Ireland\u2019s most beloved actors, returned to the couch on the March 13 episode of the Late Late \u2014 the St Patrick\u2019s Day special \u2014 following his return to Ireland from LA<\/a> after he lost his house in last year\u2019s LA wildfires.<\/p>\n

Jonathan<\/a>, who appeared in critically acclaimed roles such as Henry VIII in The Tudors and Elvis Presley in the 2005 miniseries Elvis, recently moved back to Ireland after losing his home in the LA wildfires \u2014 purchasing a farm in Co Wexford.<\/p>\n

Appearing on the Late Late Show<\/a> on Friday, Jonathan spoke about the new generation of Irish artists, ranging from Paul Mescal to Jessie Buckley on screen to Kneecap and CMAT on stage \u2014 saying that while we\u2019re a small island, we certainly punch above our weight when it comes to the arts.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m always in the learning process as an actor,\u2019 Jonathan told host Patrick Kielty. \u2018I feel like everything that I\u2019ve done before is in preparation for what I may do in the future.<\/p>\n

\u2018But I watch all of the young Irish performers coming up, and I\u2019m astounded at the level of creativity. I\u2019m astounded by the level of confidence \u2014 what a confident country. We\u2019re a small island, but we punch so high above our weight, from an artistic and literary point of view, and from a performance point of view.\u2019<\/p>\n

Speaking on the new generation of entertainers from Ireland, Jonathan remarked: \u2018they\u2019re determined. They\u2019ve got such will. It\u2019s a gift that we\u2019re willing to give to the world. We don\u2019t give it freely,\u2019 he joked. \u2018But we give it generously.\u2019<\/p>\n

People were delighted to see Jonathan on their screens again on Friday night, with one commenting: \u2018We need him back on our screens acting.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018Hope that he\u2019s doing well. Loved him,\u2019 another wrote.<\/p>\n

\u2018What a marvellous actor, who has come through so much,\u2019 the person commented. \u2018Was one of the best looking men. I hope he stays healthy,\u2019 while another wrote: \u2018An extremely talented Irish actor who doesn\u2019t get enough credit. I hate when people are overshadowed by addiction or past mistakes. We are all human. He has done fantastic work.\u2019<\/p>\n

Jonathan revealed earlier this year at the IFTAs that he was back in Ireland following the loss of his home in the LA Wildfires last year, but joked to Extra.ie that he hasn\u2019t given up on his screen career.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s a farm, but I don\u2019t farm anything,\u2019 he said. \u2018I think you have to be born into farming to get it right.
