It was a tough night for Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet and he is sure to be heading home deflated after a rather uncomfortable evening at the Oscars.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old actor had seemingly high expectations for the ceremony<\/a> as he was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role following his performance in Marty Supreme. His aspirations were soon dashed<\/a>, however, when he encountered fierce backlash for claiming “no one cares” about opera or ballet.<\/p>\n Indeed, it turns out Timoth\u00e9e lost out on the accolade as it instead went to Michael B. Jordan for his role in Sinners. But his bad luck didn’t run out there \u2013 as it appears he also got a stern telling off by date Kylie Jenner. But, alas, she was nowhere to be found. The Hollywood star instead arrived at the ceremony solo.<\/p>\n Timoth\u00e9e donned an all-white suit crafted by British designer Sarah Burton for Givenchy, combining it with black sunglasses as he posed on the red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Whilst Kylie didn’t walk the red carpet with Timoth\u00e9e, she did attend the 98th Academy Awards. The 28-year-old wore a red figure-hugging Schiaparelli dress, which featured a plunging neckline.<\/p>\n Kylie’s red carpet snub followed her boyfriend being criticised for remarks he made during an interview with fellow actor Matthew McConaughey. The actor said: “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera or things where it’s like, ‘Keep this thing alive even though no-one cares about this any more”.<\/p>\n He attempted to retract his comments, saying, “All respect to the ballet and opera people out there. I just lost 14 cents in viewership. The 62-year-old comedian referenced reports of heightened security at the ceremony after it was suggested to be due to the ongoing war in Iran.<\/p>\n However, Conan jested it was actually due to “concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities” following Timoth\u00e9e’s contentious comments. He added, “They’re just mad you left out jazz.”<\/p>\n Timoth\u00e9e wasn’t the only celebrity Conan targeted and he soon turned his attention to musician Kid Rock. “Tonight could get political,” Conan warned.<\/p>\n “And if that makes you uncomfortable, there’s an alternate Oscars hosted by Kid Rock. It’s at the Dave and Buster’s down the street.”<\/p>\n Conan wasn’t the only celebrity to target Timoth\u00e9e at the Oscars. During a behind-the-scenes snippet from the event, the couple were spotted sitting in the front row.<\/p>\n Timoth\u00e9e turned to an unseen individual as he mimicked shooting a gun at them with his fingers.
