Metric<\/a> are bringing their 2026 tour with Broken Social Scene<\/a> and Stars<\/a> to the UK, Europe and Canada.<\/p>\n

The new dates come following the band recently announcing their 10th studio album \u2018Romanticize The Dive\u2019<\/a> with the reflective single \u2018Victim Of Luck\u2019.<\/p>\n

That record is set to be released on April 24 via Thirty Tigers, and to coincide with the announcement, Metric shared plans to hit the road across North America this summer with fellow Canadian indie heroes Broken Social Scene and Stars.<\/p>\n

Tour dates kick off in June in the US, and will now include a UK and European leg. New shows include a stop at the 3 Olympia Theatre in Dublin on September 9, followed by shows in Glasgow, London, and Manchester. From there, three bands will play shows in Paris, Antwerp, Utrecht and Berlin, before wrapping things up with four new dates in Canada.<\/p>\n

\u2018Romanticize The Dive\u2019 will be the first new album from Metric since 2022 and 2023\u2019s double album series \u2018Formentera\u2019<\/a> and \u2018Formentera II\u2019<\/a>. Pre-order it here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speaking to NME last month about the upcoming record<\/a>, frontwoman Emily Haines explained how she had taken a new approach to songwriting this time around.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m trying to move away from hiding behind the lyrics,\u201d she said. \u201cPurple prose aside, my dad was a writer who was always writing in code. And I like writing in code, but I\u2019ve been pushing myself to just say it. I\u2019m saying, \u2018I was a starving artist and I was fearless, but now I\u2019m a bit cowardly.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for the dynamic of the band with album 10, the singer said that they were \u201cgoing back to the days of the dive, the beginning of the band, feeling the love\u201d, this time around, and returned to where they first met at the height of the \u201900s indie explosion.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor this record, we put back the OG crew that made [2009\u2019s] \u2018Fantasies\u2019 so we could really look back at what our process was back then,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen we were looking for direction, we would go back and listen to our own work. It makes sense on your 10th album to ask, \u2018What would Metric do?\u2019 I don\u2019t know! Let\u2019s remember. What is the essence of the sound and the emotion of what we are?\u201d<\/p>\n

The frontwoman also spoke about the decision to join forces with Stars and Broken Social Scene for the 2026 tour, and added: \u201cWe\u2019re not selling out six enormo-domes, we\u2019re doing something else.\u201d<\/p>\n
