{"id":349817,"date":"2026-03-16T23:54:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-16T23:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/349817\/"},"modified":"2026-03-16T23:54:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-16T23:54:16","slug":"quest-reached-record-number-of-users-in-2025-pushing-100-vr-apps-over-1m-in-gross-revenue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/349817\/","title":{"rendered":"Quest Reached Record Number of Users in 2025, Pushing 100 VR Apps Over $1M in Gross Revenue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Meta\u2019s Director of Games Chris Pruett revealed that Quest usage hit an all-time high in 2025, which helped over 100 games to generate more than $1 million in gross revenue last year.<\/p>\n<p>Pruett announced in his \u2018State of VR\u2019 talk at Game Developers Conference (GDC) that not only has Quest usage grown year-over-year, but that Horizon Store developer revenue was also up \u201cvery slightly compared to 2024.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSimilar to the overall games industry (Circana estimates 1% industry growth\u2060), the gross revenue generated by the Meta Horizon Store was up very slightly year over year,\u201d Pruett says in <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.meta.com\/horizon\/blog\/gdc-2026-state-of-vr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a blogpost<\/a> recapping the talk.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile this might sound like a humdrum outcome, it\u2019s important to note that 2025 did not (unlike the year we\u2019re comparing it to) benefit from a hardware launch. As you might imagine, hardware launches tend to spike Store revenue, and holding steady in a no-launch year is a strong signal that ongoing Store investments are paying off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/chris-pruett.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-126639\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/chris-pruett.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"630\"  \/><\/a>Chris Pruett | Image courtesy Meta<\/p>\n<p>Pruett also revealed that premium app sales are still the largest revenue driver, although in app purchases (IAP) grew \u201csignificantly in 2025, by over 10%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe trend points to further diversification of monetization techniques on the platform, and better aggregation of success across titles,\u201d Pruett says. \u201cWhile most IAP revenue went to a small handful of titles in 2024, it was distributed more broadly in 2025. The number of IAP apps that reached $500k or more in revenue was up 20%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for gross revenue\u2014which is notably before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadtovr.com\/john-carmack-oculus-cto-meta-fee-structure-critique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Quest\u2019s 30% platform fee<\/a>\u2014Pruett says over 100 titles generated more than $1 million in 2025.
