\n\tJay-Z is making his grand return<\/a> to the stage for the first time in nearly a year with a headlining performance alongside the Roots<\/a> at the Roots Picnic 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe rapper, who recently changed the styling of his name to JA\u0178-Z in honor of the 30th anniversary of his debut album \u201cReasonable Doubt,\u201d is scheduled to headline the May 30 date of the 2026 Roots Picnic at Philadelphia\u2019s Belmont Plateau. It marks his first performance with the Roots in over a decade.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe appearance will also be his first live performance since joining his wife Beyonc\u00e9 at the final \u201cCowboy Carter\u201d international tour date, which took place in Paris in June 2025. During the show, he popped out to perform \u201cCrazy in Love,\u201d \u201cN\u2014s in Paris\u201d and \u201cDrunk in Love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe last time he played a festival was in 2019 as a surprise guest at Pharrell Williams\u2019 Something in the Water, which took place in Virginia Beach.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cMoving the Roots Picnic to Belmont Plateau and bringing JA\u0178-Z and The Roots together to perform are both bucket-list moments for us,\u201d says Shawn Gee, the Roots\u2019 manager and president of Live Nation Urban. \u201cAfter meeting with Mayor Cherelle Parker and hearing her vision for Philadelphia 250, she truly inspired us to dream even bigger, and we\u2019re grateful to her, Commissioner Susan Slawson, Jazelle Jones and everyone who helped make it happen. \n\tPresale tickets for the two-day Roots Picnic festival, taking place on May 30-31, are available now<\/a>. General on-sale starts on March 18 at 10 a.m. ET. Details on the rest of the lineup are expected to be announced this week.<\/p>\n

\n\tJay-Z<\/a> has recently kicked back up the promo machine in honor of the 30th anniversary of \u201cReasonable Doubt,\u201d which was released on June 25, 1996. Fans noticed that his name on streaming services changed to his original stylization of JA\u0178-Z \u2014\u00a0yes, with the umlaut \u2014\u00a0and over the past few weeks, he put the original version of \u201cDead Presidents\u201d on streaming and dropped the video for \u201cWishing on a Star\u201d featuring Gwen Dickey on YouTube.<\/p>\n

\n\tThough Jay-Z hasn\u2019t released an album since 2017\u2019s \u201c4:44,\u201d there have been recent rumors that he\u2019s been in the studio, according to interviews with the Alchemist, Memphis Bleek and Cash Cobain. The latter had to clarify the rumor after Jay-Z told him that he\u2019s \u201cabsolutely not dropping an album,\u201d according to a post on social media.<\/p>\n
