\n\tJay-Z<\/a> is officially set to return to the stage as the headlining act for the upcoming\u00a0The Roots<\/a>\u00a0Picnic in Philadelphia. The annual fest announced Tuesday that the 56-year-old music icon and mogul will perform alongside the Roots at the Belmont Plateau on May 30.<\/p>\n \n\tThe festival will take place on May 30 and May 31, with additional performers yet to be announced. Tickets<\/a> are already on sale. News of Jay-Z\u2019s performance at Roots Picnic<\/a> comes as the rap icon continues to gear up for the 30th anniversary of the release of\u00a0his debut album,\u00a0Reasonable Doubt<\/a>, which was released in June 1996.<\/p>\n \n\tLast month, Hov made his 1996 single\u00a0\u201cDead Presidents\u201d\u00a0<\/a>available via digital service providers for the first time, also releasing pressed vinyl, cassette, and CD editions of the Ski-produced classic.<\/p>\n \n\tAnother clue of Jay-Z\u2019s potential celebration of\u00a0Reasonable Doubt\u2019s anniversary can be found on the flyer promoting his Roots Picnic set, which features Jay-Z\u2019s name spelled with the umlaut used for the initial release of\u00a0Reasonable Doubt (it was removed\u00a0on later releases<\/a>.)<\/p>\n \n\tJay-Z last performed live in 2025 during the Cowboy Carter tour, where he took the stage with Beyonc\u00e9 for a duet of their 2003 hit \u201cCrazy in Love\u201d during the final show of the tour\u2019s Paris leg. He previously performed alongside Beyonc\u00e9 at Global Citizen Festival 2018.<\/p>\n \n\tJay-Z\u2019s history with the Roots dates back to the Nineties: Hov enlisted the group as the backing band for his 2001\u00a0MTV Unplugged\u00a0performance.
