Sadly, he passed away on October 10, 2009, at the young age of 33.

In a sweet video shared on Tuesday, Keith Duffy is seen raising a glass with his wife, Lisa Smith, and their daughter, Mia, in celebration of St Patrick’s Day and of Stephen.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="500" height="700" src="https://www.newsbeep.com/ie/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/SnapInsta-Ai_3854954789561962460_41e089.jpg" alt="Keith Duffy of Boyzone celebrates what would have been Stephen Gately's 50th birthday. Pic: Instagram

‘On a day like today, especially today, it’s very important we as a family remember our brother Stephen Gately. He would’ve been 50 today. 17 years an angel,’ Keith began.

‘So today, we didn’t know what to do, to be honest, but we wanted to make sure he was part of our day,’ he continued, before the camera pans to a birthday set-up in honour of Stephen.

‘So we set up a little “Steo’s 50th”. His favourite colour was red, his favourite chocolates [are here], and obviously, Steo, we wouldn’t let you down on your 50th birthday without a magnum of Cristal.’

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="500" height="700" src="https://www.newsbeep.com/ie/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Screenshot-2026-03-17-200454.jpg" alt="Keith Duffy of Boyzone celebrates what would have been Stephen Gately's 50th birthday. If everyone out there can remember their fondest memories of him, and cheers to Steo today.’

Keith, Lisa, and Mia are then seen raising their glasses once more, as they say: ‘Cheers, Steo.
