{"id":352741,"date":"2026-03-18T15:03:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T15:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/352741\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T15:03:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T15:03:10","slug":"momentum-building-in-housing-market-as-cost-of-average-dublin-home-nears-e600000-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/352741\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Momentum building\u2019 in housing market as cost of average Dublin home nears \u20ac600,000 \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/housing-crisis\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/housing-crisis\/\">Irish house prices<\/a> rose at an annualised rate of 7 per cent in January while the average price paid for a home in Dublin is now close to \u20ac600,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">With prices continuing to be fuelled by a lack of supply, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/central-statistics-office\/\">Central Statistics Office\u2019s (CSO) <\/a>latest Residential Property Price Index indicated that values nationally rose by 7 per cent year on year in January, up from a rate 6.9 per cent the previous month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Property price inflation in the capital was recorded at 6.1 per cent, up from 5.6 per cent in December, while prices outside Dublin were up by 7.7 per cent compared with January 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The figures indicated that the average price of a dwelling purchased in the 12 months to January was \u20ac432,082 while the mean price paid in Dublin was \u20ac592,594.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The average price paid in D\u00fan Laoghaire-Rathdown, the most expensive local authority area, was \u20ac789,619.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Government\u2019s revamped housing plan aims to deliver a total of 300,000 new homes by 2030.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image audio_image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/1754647931518-c07d65db-55b5-463e-ae51-976300c5837e.jpeg\"\/>\u2018Over a billion eyeballs will be on the parade\u2019: St Patrick\u2019s festival CEO Richard Tierney<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The CSO\u2019s figures indicate that first-time buyers with the aid of State supports, were responsible for 39 per cent or 19,742 of purchases in the 12 months to January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">They also indicated that in January 3,781 dwelling purchases by households worth \u20ac1.66 billion were filed with the Revenue Commissioners.
