Corfu remains Greeks’ top pick for Easter [InTime News].<\/p>\n
The war in the Middle East has not had a major impact on Greeks\u2019 and foreigners\u2019 travel plans for Greece yet, according to a senior official at online accommodation platform Booking.com, who stressed that Greece has in the last year been the destination with the most positive expectations among tourism enterprises.<\/p>\n
Alessandro Callari, the platform\u2019s regional manager for Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Malta and Israel, told a press briefing on Tuesday in Athens that in general, after February 28 \u2013 when the US-Israeli air strikes on Iran began \u2013 \u201cthe situation has become quite volatile, we are observing some changes to trends.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, he added that \u201cGreece is still very resilient and still growing,\u201d attributing this to the continued interest from its main tourism markets, including Germany, UK, France and Poland.<\/p>\n
These markets, as well as the US, Italy and Romania, are the main origins of searches and bookings on the platform ahead of Greek Easter, the week around April 12.<\/p>\n
For the same period, Callari said, Greeks are also making their plans for trips abroad, led by Rome. The main domestic destinations platform users from this country search for and book are Corfu, Nafplio, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Kalamata, Nafpaktos, Volos, Ermoupoli on Syros and Hania on Crete.<\/p>\n
Greece has apparently impressed Booking.com with its outlook, as a survey it conducted between February and April 2025 across Europe showed listed landlords in Greece have the most positive expectations for their business future (85%), ahead of Italy and Portugal (84%), with the European Union average at 63%.<\/p>\n
Booking.com places particular importance on its Greek market, which in January and February was also the platform\u2019s fastest growing market in southern Europe, according to Callari, with double-digit growth.<\/p>\n
He added that the platform \u2013 which began 30 years ago in Amsterdam \u2013 has had offices in Greece since 2008, and employs 40 people here who serve over 100,000 partners.<\/p>\n
