Fourteen New Jersey hospitals rank among the top 10% in the nation for patient safety, according to Healthgrades\u2019 list of America\u2019s Safest Hospitals for 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The list recognizes 438 hospitals from 40 states as recipients of the Patient Safety Excellence Award.<\/p>\n

To be eligible for the award, recipients must be in the top 80% of hospitals for clinical quality, have zero instances of a foreign object left behind during surgery and have data on seven core patient safety indicators, such as postoperative sepsis or accidental puncture rates.<\/p>\n

Recipients have a lower rate of preventable complications and adverse events than other hospitals.<\/p>\n

According to Healthgrades, patients at award-winning facilities were, on average:<\/p>\n

52.4% less likely to experience an in-hospital fall resulting in fracture.<\/p>\n

57.5% less likely to experience a collapsed lung due to a procedure or surgery in or around the chest.<\/p>\n

67.8% less likely to experience a catheter-related bloodstream infection acquired in the hospital.<\/p>\n

71.9% less likely to experience pressure sores or bed sores acquired in the hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe data behind this year\u2019s Patient Safety Excellence Award highlights how measurable improvements in safety can prevent thousands of complications,\u201d said Dr. Alana Biggers, medical advisor at Healthgrades, in a press release. \u201cHospitals that prioritize evidence-based safety practices not only achieve better clinical outcomes, but also cultivate a culture where patients come first. These insights give individuals and families the information they need to make confident and better informed healthcare decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n
