\n\tDua Lipa<\/a> brought out surprise guest Nile Rodgers<\/a> to perform Chic<\/a>\u2019s \u201cLe Freak\u201d Saturday at New York\u2019s Madison Square Garden as the singer continued the Radical Optimism Tour\u2019s tradition of playing local covers at every concert.<\/p>\n

\n\tSaturday marked Lipa\u2019s third of four nights at the World\u2019s Most Famous Arena; her previous shows at MSG featured covers of New York staples Alicia Keys (\u201cNo One\u201d) and Blondie (\u201cOne Way or Another<\/a>\u201c). She upped the ante for the third gig, welcoming the legendary Rodgers himself onstage to play guitar on the Number One disco-funk hit:<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHere in New York, I\u2019m actually spoiled with the choice,\u201d Lipa told the crowd prior to covering Blondie earlier this week. Lipa\u2019s MSG run concludes Sunday night with no shortage of New York artists still available to cover.<\/p>\n

\n\tDua Lipa\u2019s Australian and New Zealand tour \u2014 where her regional covers trend started \u2014 saw the singer perform the likes of\u00a0AC\/DC<\/a>,\u00a0Lorde<\/a>, and\u00a0Kylie Minogue<\/a>, while also bringing out\u00a0guests like Troye Sivan<\/a>,\u00a0Tame Impala<\/a>, and\u00a0Crowded House\u2019s Neil Finn<\/a>. The local covers have continued \u2014 though less frequently \u2014 as the tour headed to Europe, with Lipa\u00a0covering Enrique Iglesias\u2019 \u201cHero\u201d in Madrid<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen the trek reached the U.K. at London\u2019s Wembley Stadium, Lipa performed Jamiroquai\u2019s \u201cVirtual Insanity<\/a>\u201d with help from that group\u2019s singer Jay Kay. The following night at the same venue, she brought out Charli XCX for a rendition of that singer\u2019s \u201c360<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn Liverpool, Lipa performed the Zutons\u2019 \u201cValerie\u201d \u2014 popularized by Amy Winehouse \u2014 with that group\u2019s singer Dave McCabe. The next show, in the birthplace of\u00a0the Beatles, Lipa covered the Fab Four\u2019s \u201cHey Jude.\u201d In Dublin, Lipa did \u201ca song by a late Irish legend<\/a>,\u201d Sinead O\u2019Connor\u2019s \u201cNothing Compares 2 U.\u201d<\/p>\n
