A man has been arrested after being suspected of carrying an explosive device which turned out to be non-viable. <\/p>\n
A section of the Liffey Valley<\/a> shopping centre in west Dublin<\/a> near the bus terminal was closed off at around 7.30pm.<\/p>\n Garda\u00ed<\/a> and the Defence Forces<\/a> Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team were quickly on the scene after a member of the public alerted them to a potentially suspect device. <\/p>\n The device was deemed non-viable and the cordon was subsequently lifted. The bomb disposal operation was concluded by 10pm.<\/p>\n A man in his 30s was arrested under public order legislation and is currently detained at a Garda station in the Dublin area.<\/p>\n A spokeswoman for An Garda S\u00edoch\u00e1na confirmed it had responded to \u201can incident at a retail park\u201d in the Clondalkin area around 7.20pm.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cA cordon was put in place around the area and the services of the Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was requested.<\/p>\n \u201cThe EOD team attended the scene.
