{"id":353819,"date":"2026-03-19T05:28:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-19T05:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/353819\/"},"modified":"2026-03-19T05:28:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-19T05:28:10","slug":"mayo-pride-all-around-as-caelan-doris-captains-ireland-to-triple-crown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/353819\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayo pride all around as Caelan Doris captains Ireland to Triple Crown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pride was plentiful in Lacken on Saturday afternoon as one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayonews.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Mayo<\/a>&#8216;s greatest ever sporting sons, Caelan Doris, captained Ireland to the Triple Crown.<\/p>\n<p>Leinster and Ireland captain Doris was front and centre of the celebrations in the Aviva Stadium as Ireland edged the Scots in what was a thriller of a Six Nations clash.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayonews.ie\/news\/rugby\/2039865\/thank-god-they-got-over-the-line-westport-promoted-after-j1b-league-win.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"&#039;Thank God they got over the line&#039; - Westport promoted after J1B League win\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/READ_MORE_button_-_2026-03-16T173257.858-1773682459120.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"296\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ireland head coach Andy Farrell was full of praise for what was a first-class game from the number eight, describing his showing as\u00a0&#8220;one of his best games of his career&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>His Player of the Match display was intrinsic to Ireland&#8217;s victory to secure the silverware.<\/p>\n<p>However, the ever-humble Doris chose to shine the light onto Tadhg Beirne&#8217;s performance post-match, while also giving Scotland their flowers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe saw what they were capable of last week, so had to be on high alert, always switched on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe knew what their attack was capable of. Felt our defence stood up very well today and got quite a few turnovers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpecial mention to Tadhg Beirne, I thought he was unbelievable.
