\n\tPaul McCartney<\/a> talks about rekindling his friendship with John Lennon<\/a> in a new clip from the musician\u2019s installment of the Audible<\/a> series Words + Music, titled \u201cThe Man on the Run<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe three-hour audio experience is out today, March 19, and features extended interviews between McCartney and Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville. McCartney contributed a few fresh musical performances to the project, too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn this exclusive clip, McCartney reflects on how he and Lennon rebuilt their relationship in the years after<\/a> the Beatles\u2019 tumultuous<\/a> breakup<\/a>. He remembers how the two finally got to a point where they were actually able to \u201ctalk to each other\u201d instead of just barking over the phone. Lennon, McCartney notes, had just become a father again with the birth of his son Sean, and so the pair often spoke about domestic life and having young children.<\/p>\n

\n\tMcCartney even recalls once telling Lennon that he\u2019d started baking bread and was getting pretty good at it. He says Lennon enthusiastically replied, \u201cOh, yeah, I\u2019m making bread!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe things that we had in common were just ordinary, little domestic things,\u201d McCartney says. \u201cSomehow that was peaceful. It was nice that we had that in common. And we weren\u2019t fighting anymore. I would go and visit him and we had quite a bit of interaction, and the same with George and Ringo. It was all getting much nicer.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tBeing able to repair their relationship, McCartney admits a few moments later, was \u201cthe only consolation\u201d after Lennon was murdered in 1980. \u201cI thought, \u2018Thank God we got it back together,\u2019\u201d McCartney says. \u201cI don\u2019t know what I would have thought if we hadn\u2019t and we were still warring.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAt this point, Neville tells McCartney that they\u2019re actually talking on the anniversary of Lennon\u2019s death. Astonished, McCartney admits he had no idea and says, \u201cThe guy who did it is still in New York and he\u2019s in jail and he\u2019s still knocking around \u2014 you can\u2019t make sense of it. The world is a very sort of bizarre place, as we all know.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe Man on the Run\u201d expands on Neville\u2019s documentary about McCartney<\/a>, which was released last month<\/a> on Prime Video.
