The only thing better than a pop star feud is a pop star reconciliation, and Olivia Rodrigo has given us just that by squashing her beef<\/a> with Sabrina Carpenter once and for all.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Rodrigo spoke on the current status of her much-discussed relationship with Carpenter in a recent interview with British Vogue<\/a>, some five years after the pop girls were notoriously embroiled in a love triangle over fellow Disney Channel star, Joshua Bassett.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cdrivers licence\u201d, Rodrigo\u2019s breakout 2021 track, was widely believed to be about Basset ditching her for Carpenter. That same year, Carpenter hit back with her side of the story on the song \u201cSkin\u201d<\/a>, which directed some not-so-subtle jabs Rodrigo\u2019s way.<\/p>\n

But now it seems the hatchet is buried. \u201cI think she\u2019s great,\u201d Rodrigo said of Carpenter in the Vogue interview. \u201cI\u2019m so happy for all of her success too. I love the album she\u2019s put out.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the article, Vogue wrote that Rodrigo\u2019s praise for Carpenter \u201csounds genuine\u201d but that she \u201cseemed tense\u201d after answering the question. But as a true media trained girlie, Rodrigo got ahead of the headlines.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, no, no, it\u2019s good. It\u2019s just that people just get weird and clickbaity. It\u2019s all love, though. I\u2019ve talked to her many times,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

One such time the pair spoke was at the 2025 Grammys, when fans got wind of a possible reconciliation as they were spotted gasbagging in the crowd at the ceremony.\u00a0<\/p>\n

That moment and Rodrigo\u2019s more recent comments are just a few of the times the feud has resurfaced over the years, but Carpenter did vaguely address the situation<\/a> back in 2021.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t bothered by a few lines in a (magnificent) song,\u201d Carpenter said of \u201cdrivers license\u201d, adding that her supposed diss track response \u201cSkin\u201d wasn\u2019t \u201ccalling out one single person\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While Rodrigo didn\u2019t dive deep into all that lore with Vogue, she did reflect on the intense attention she received during that time in her life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cSometimes I meet a 17 or an 18-year-old nowadays and I\u2019m like, \u2018Wow, you are such a baby\u2019. I can\u2019t believe people were that mean to me,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Rodrigo and Carpenter have both moved on from the Basset days. The latter had a splashy but brief romance with actor Barry Keoghan<\/a>, while Rodrigo is currently loved up with Louis Partridge<\/a>, who inspired many love songs on her upcoming third album<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With these latest comments, Rodrigo and Carpenter join a line of squashed pop feuds like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry<\/a> and Charli xcx and Lorde<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The jury\u2019s still out on Swift and Charli, but here\u2019s hoping their beef<\/a> doesn\u2019t linger too long or else we\u2019ll all get salmonella.<\/p>\n
