How did Keanu Reeves end up stealing a fantasy movie that slipped past theaters, yet now has viewers swearing by it? And why is it hiding in plain sight online right now?

Keanu Reeves trades stoic hitman chic for a mischievous halo in Good Fortune, Aziz Ansari’s fantasy comedy that pairs him with Seth Rogen. Premiered quietly in limited U.S. theaters in 2025, it has since found a wider life on digital platforms, including a French-dubbed version released that December. Viewers are firmly on its side, handing it an 81 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics not far behind. Between a fallen angel roommate gag and a fate-flipping premise, this offbeat curio is suddenly within easy reach.

A celebrated star in a lesser-known gem

Keanu Reeves, synonymous with global stardom, reappears in a fantasy film that many missed on its first pass. Good Fortune, written and directed by Aziz Ansari, premiered in October 2025 (limited US release) and then slipped to VOD. The result: a warm audience embrace, with 81% recommending it on Rotten Tomatoes, and a steady, word-of-mouth afterlife on streaming.

It isn’t a franchise entry or a chest-thumping action showcase. Instead, it quietly flexes Reeves’ comedic timing and a playful streak longtime followers know well.

Keanu Reeves: a career filled with iconic roles

Born in Lebanon in 1964, Reeves grew from garage-band comedies to global mythmaking. Bill & Ted in 1989, then Point Break and Speed, cemented his range. The Matrix turned Neo into a generational icon, while John Wick rebooted him as a balletic avenger. In addition to Matrix Resurrections, Sonic 3, and Cyberpunk 2077, his modest grace—remember “You’re breathtaking”—keeps fans close.

He has also toured stages and embraced voice and mocap work, from animated larks to the swaggering Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077. That breadth matters: it explains why a light fantasy like Good Fortune feels natural, not niche.

A fantastical tale with heart and humor

In Good Fortune, Reeves plays a cheeky, low-budget take on the angel Gabriel who meddles with destiny. After a cosmic bet backfires, he loses his wings and ends up living with Jeff, a once-rich boss played by Seth Rogen. The film blends buoyant comedy with gentle melancholy across a brisk 99 minutes. Critics landed at 78%, while audiences rallied at 81% (Rotten Tomatoes).

The story pairs Gabriel with Arj, an unlucky employee whose life he flips with Jeff’s to prove a point. When money seemingly fixes everything, the angel’s plan collapses, and the fallout becomes the film’s tender engine.

A testament to Reeves’ enduring legacy

Earning smiles rather than headlines, Good Fortune shows how Reeves can ground fantasy with warmth and curiosity. The role may be smaller, the stakes lighter, yet the presence is unmistakable. For fans charting his next steps, Ballerina looms, alongside other collaborations that play to his disciplined grace. This is the case when craft meets care, even between angels and mortals.

How did Keanu Reeves end up stealing a fantasy movie that slipped past theaters, yet now has viewers…

[27
93,61,60,270
post-356544","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-movies","tag-entertainment","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-movies
["GET
