{"id":357748,"date":"2026-03-21T12:10:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-21T12:10:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/357748\/"},"modified":"2026-03-21T12:10:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-21T12:10:11","slug":"wife-of-man-united-legend-set-to-delve-into-mayo-roots-on-late-late-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/357748\/","title":{"rendered":"Wife of Man United legend set to delve into Mayo roots on Late Late Show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The wife of Manchester United and England football legend Wayne Rooney is set to delve into her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayonews.ie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Mayo<\/a> roots in an appearance on The Late Late Show this evening.<\/p>\n<p>Coleen Rooney is one of the most recognisable faces in England, having made the headlines during the\u00a0&#8216;Wagatha Christie&#8217; court case in the early 2020s, as well as as a TV presenter and magazine writer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayonews.ie\/news\/soccer\/2040128\/mayo-club-soccer-player-called-into-ireland-underage-squad.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" title=\"Mayo club soccer player called into Ireland underage squad\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/READ_MORE_button_-_2026-03-20T124745.758-1774010947376.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"473\" height=\"266\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Her husband, Wayne, is an iconic footballer, having lit up the Premier League for the Red Devils, becoming their all-time top goalscorer as well as rising high in the goal-scoring charts\u00a0for England.<\/p>\n<p>The Everton academy graduate has plenty of links to the country himself, with his paternal grandparents hailing from Down. However, his wife&#8217;s deep connections to this neck of the woods are set to take centre stage.<\/p>\n<p>Coleen&#8217;s great grandparents hail from Derrycoosh, near Aughagower and Islandeady, with many of her cousins still residing in the area.<\/p>\n<p>When she was eleven years old, her father took her on a trip to retrace their family tree. Coleen also described her experience of climbing one of Mayo&#8217;s most famous landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe went where the family had a farm, and did Croagh Patrick,&#8221; she reminisced. &#8220;My dad actually did it barefoot.
