{"id":358174,"date":"2026-03-21T18:13:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-21T18:13:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/358174\/"},"modified":"2026-03-21T18:13:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-21T18:13:08","slug":"cork-pub-operators-fined-after-customers-found-on-the-premises-after-hours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/358174\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork pub operators fined after customers found on the premises after hours\u00a0 \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"contextmenu internal_Body1st\">A night of music at a busy rural watering hole known simply as \u2018The Pub\u2019 went on too long, according to the district court where the operating company was prosecuted for allowing customers to remain on the premises outside of the licensed trading hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Garda Trish O\u2019Sullivan told Macroom District Court that a garda patrol was passing The Pub at Carriganima on the Macroom-Millstreet road in the early hours of August 24, 2025. The lights were on and garda\u00ed entered through the unlocked front door at 1.45am.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Inside, 10 people had drinks, many of which looked freshly poured.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">The customers were asked to leave, and it was noted that no licence was on display.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Patrick Goold, defending, said the operating company that was being prosecuted \u2014 El Tercer Lugar Ltd \u2014 did not have any previous convictions, though the company nominee Matthew Neville did have a conviction for a breach of licence in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr Goold said there had been music at The Pub that night. The band were packing up, and a number of customers were waiting for lifts and taxis home when the garda\u00ed arrived.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Mr Goold said his client apologised and accepted that the customers should not have still been on the premises at that hour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"contextmenu Body Body\">Judge Joanne Carroll said she noted that running a rural pub could be \u201cchallenging\u201d and it \u201cseemed to be an orderly situation\u201d.
