Ryan Gosling is one of the biggest actors out there to not have had a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it looks like it’s a case of ‘yet’. The Barbie actor had previously stated that he wants to be the new Ghost Rider<\/a>, and it looks like things are happening on that front, if slowly.<\/p>\n

Gosling appeared on the Happy Sad Confused<\/a> podcast to talk about his latest movie, Project Hail Mary, and was asked by Josh Horowitz what’s going on with him joining the MCU following a lack of updates over the last few years.<\/p>\n

“We’ll keep hope alive”, he said. “Some discussions have been had. It’s a complicated situation.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Gosling has joined another of cinema’s biggest franchises, one also owned by Disney, as he will be appearing in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter movie, which will be set in a time period not explored by any other movie so far.<\/p>\n

In the interview, he talked about how his mother had dug out his old Star Wars bedding after he was cast in the film, and how that gave him “inspiration”.<\/p>\n

Tom Cruise famously helicoptered onto the set and directed<\/a> one particular shot of the film, and when asked about it, Gosling said he actually wasn’t there to witness it.<\/p>\n

“I work on that movie that whole time, I get one day off [and it’s that]!” the actor lamented.<\/p>\n

He’s starring in the film alongside former Doctor Who Doctor Matt Smith, and also spoke about his fandom for the franchise after sporting a Ncuti Gatwa Doctor t-shirt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’m not as deep [into it]”, he said. “It’s just, I remember, thinking it was super-cool when we were growing up. I didn’t get on the schedule with it. I couldn’t answer any trivia, but I think Ncuti as [The Doctor] is an all-time great casting idea.”<\/p>\n
