{"id":358766,"date":"2026-03-22T03:37:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-22T03:37:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/358766\/"},"modified":"2026-03-22T03:37:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-22T03:37:09","slug":"limerick-court-hears-boy-16-refuses-to-get-up-for-school-in-the-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/358766\/","title":{"rendered":"Limerick court hears boy, 16, refuses to get up for school in the morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A JUDGE has expressed her disappointment over a boy\u2019s refusal to attend school.<\/p>\n<p>The boy, 16, is regularly smoking cannabis and sees no problem with his usage, according to a court-ordered Probation Report.<\/p>\n<p>Reading the report, Judge Carol Anne Coolican detailed that the boy is refusing to get up in the morning, leaves therapy early, uses cannabis everyday, and sporadically attends an outreach centre.<\/p>\n<p>Limerick District Court heard that the boy \u201cdoesn\u2019t see his daily cannabis use as a problem\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/crime-and-courts\/2040883\/gardai-warn-of-bogus-tradesmen-knocking-on-limerick-doors-for-criminal-purposes.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Garda\u00ed warn of \u2018bogus tradesmen\u2019 knocking on Limerick doors for \u2018criminal purposes\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Solicitor Darach McCarthy, representing the young man, said that while \u201cthere has been a shortcoming in attending school\u201d, he feels the boy \u201cis getting there\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The solicitor identified the boy\u2019s problem as follows: \u201cI don\u2019t think he has any confidence in himself\u201d.
