{"id":359478,"date":"2026-03-22T15:01:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-22T15:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/359478\/"},"modified":"2026-03-22T15:01:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-22T15:01:08","slug":"gardai-probe-whether-woman-assaulted-in-tipperary-was-attacked-by-group-after-car-rammed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/359478\/","title":{"rendered":"Garda\u00ed probe whether woman assaulted in Tipperary was attacked by group after car rammed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman seriously injured in <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishexaminer.com\/news\/courtandcrime\/arid-41814605.html\"> an assault<\/a> in Co Tipperary on Saturday is thought to have been attacked by a group of people armed with weapons.<\/p>\n<p>She was transferred from University Hospital Limerick to Cork University Hospital today with serious head injuries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The woman was left for dead at the side of a road, at Birdhill around 5.30pm, on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The woman, in her 20s, is a member of a family from the Traveller community from Limerick City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Garda\u00ed are working on several theories as to the background of the assault including that the woman may have been travelling in a car that was rammed by a group in another vehicle and dragged from her car and attacked with implements at the side of the roadway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">On Saturday evening the injured woman was initially attended to by HSE paramedics at the scene and then quickly airlifted by a Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter to University Hospital Limerick (UHL).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Doctors continued to monitor the woman at the Resus unit at UHL, and she underwent a CT scan at the hospital where her family maintained a vigil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Paramedics transferred the woman from UHL to CUH head trauma unit where her condition remained serious, on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Garda\u00ed closed off the R494 roadway at Birdhill, and conducted a forensic examination of the scene throughout Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Appealing for witnesses, a Garda spokeswoman said: \u201cAny road users who were on the R494 between Birdhill and the M7 motorway between 5pm and 6pm on Saturday, 21st March 2026 and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cInvestigations are ongoing,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Anyone with any information is asked to contact Nenagh Garda Station on (067) 50450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A woman seriously injured in an assault in Co Tipperary on Saturday is thought to have been attacked&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":359479,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[7782,61,60,43],"class_list":["post-359478","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-ireland","tag-gardai","tag-ie","tag-ireland","tag-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/359478","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=359478"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/359478\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/359479"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=359478"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=359478"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=359478"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
