\n A special information event will take place this week.\n <\/p>\n

The President of Network Ireland Limerick, Barbara McCarthy, is calling on local professional women to apply for the 2026 Businesswoman of the Year Awards.<\/p>\n

The awards, which feature eight diverse categories, aim to recognise the excellence of women working in every sector of the Limerick economy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s categories include Emerging & Established Businesswoman, Solo Businesswoman, STEM & Creative Professional, Early & Advanced Career Employee and Networker of the Year.<\/p>\n

While the awards celebrate high achievers, McCarthy emphasised that the process itself offers great value beyond a trophy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s not even about winning,” she said. “A lot of women find that stepping back to reflect on their career is a really important exercise. It allows them to reframe where they are going and what they have achieved to date.”<\/p>\n

Applicants also benefit from extensive branding and social media exposure across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, providing a platform for both their personal profile and their business.<\/p>\n

To assist those who may be on the fence about applying, the Limerick branch is hosting a special information and launch event at the Greenhills Hotel this Wednesday, 25th March at 6:30 pm.<\/p>\n

Past winner Leah McMahon and a former judge, Karl Daly, will provide practical advice on how to put your best foot forward on the application form.<\/p>\n

The judging panel, comprising representatives from AIB, the Local Enterprise Office, and an independent expert, is entirely external to the branch committee to ensure a fair and transparent process.<\/p>\n

The closing date for applications is April 16th at 6 pm.<\/p>\n

Applicants must be members of Network Ireland to be eligible.<\/p>\n

Branch winners will be announced later this year and will go forward to represent Limerick at the national awards in September.<\/p>\n

McCarthy is also calling on local businesses, “We are always looking for sponsorships for our award categories at a local level.
