Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson’s sci-fi thriller Mercy<\/a> has just landed on Prime Video<\/a>. Set in the year 2029, the movie depicts a futuristic world in which artificial intelligence is used to prosecute citizens accused of violent crimes. <\/p>\n

Pratt<\/a> stars as Chris Raven, a detective who is on trial for the murder of his wife Nicole. He is strapped to a chair and provided with various resources to prove his innocence within 90 minutes.<\/p>\n

Ferguson plays AI Judge Maddox, who presides over the case. Following the deadline, Maddox must weigh up the evidence to determine if Chris should be acquitted or executed via a sonic blast. <\/p>\n

Though Mercy was released back in January, its speedy arrival to the streaming service<\/a> is not unexpected as it was distributed by Amazon MGM Studios. <\/p>\n

The movie is available to watch<\/a> for free with a Prime Video subscription<\/a> for \u00a38.99 per month or \u00a395 per year. Meanwhile, students and 18-22 year-olds can subscribe for half price at just \u00a34.49 per month. <\/p>\n

New customers can also start a 30-day free trial of Prime – which will automatically be renewed at the monthly subscription price<\/a>, unless cancelled before the trial period ends. <\/p>\n

Following its debut, Mercy divided audiences online<\/a> and currently holds a weak 25% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a> from 176 reviews. Despite this, the movie seems to have gone down well with the general public, landing an 83% audience score from over 1,000 ratings.<\/p>\n

A fan<\/a> on IMDB branded the thriller “intelligent, gripping, and emotionally resonant”, praising the “suspense-driven storytelling.” <\/p>\n

“At times, the film feels like a modern, technology-driven version of a Sherlock Holmes-style investigation, blending courtroom drama with futuristic elements in a refreshing way,” they added.<\/p>\n

Another wrote<\/a>: “At first glance, when I realized most of the plot would take place in a chair, I honestly wondered how they were going to deliver on that idea. But they pulled it off. The concept behind the story works, and the execution is genuinely strong.”<\/p>\n
