\n\tAn adoption-focused drama feature starring Jake Lacy<\/a> and Nazanin Boniadi<\/a> is buzzing its way toward theaters. <\/p>\n

\n\tPersimmon has acquired North American distribution rights to writer-director Nicola Rinciari\u2019s indie film<\/a> A Mosquito in the Ear, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. Ruhi Pal rounds out the cast for the movie that will hit select theaters this spring after it premiered last month at the Santa Barbara International<\/a> Film Festival, where it won the Panavision Spirit Award for Independent Cinema.<\/p>\n

\n\tA Mosquito in the Ear centers on Andrew (Lacy) and Daniela (Boniadi), who venture to India<\/a> to bring home their newly adopted 4-year-old daughter Sarvari (Pal). Tensions arise when the girl refuses to join them on the return journey. <\/p>\n

\n\tRinciari helmed the film from his own script that adapts Andrea Ferraris\u2019 fact-based graphic novel of the same name. Emily Dillard,\u00a0Darren Dean, Ali K. Rizvi,\u00a0Frank Hall Green, Stephen Stanley and\u00a0Jomon Thomas serve as producers. Laurens Postma and Sunitha Ram of Lasutra Pictures oversaw production in India. <\/p>\n

\n\tAdds Persimmon acquisitions manager Mackenzie Maguire, \u201cPersimmon is overjoyed to be the North America partner on\u00a0A Mosquito in the Ear. Nazanin Boniadi,\u00a0Jake\u00a0Lacy and\u00a0Ruhi Pal have incredible chemistry as they play out their roles in this complicated family dynamic. This film will have you crying, laughing and on the edge of your seat.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tUTA Independent Film Group negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers, while Maguire represented Persimmon. Fandango\u2019s Raffaella Di Giulio handles international sales, which launched at this year\u2019s EFM. <\/p>\n

\n\tA Mosquito in the Ear will screen at such forthcoming festivals as Bari International Film Festival, Annapolis Film Festival\u00a0and Miami Film Festival.<\/p>\n

\n\tLacy is known for his Emmy-nominated role on The White Lotus and starred on last year\u2019s series All Her Fault.
