It\u2019s been more than 30 years since Chris Barnes was fired as the vocalist for Cannibal Corpse. That said, though, he still has a lot to say on the matter. Mainly, that he isn\u2019t \u201cbitter\u201d about it.<\/p>\n

During an interview on Loaded Radio<\/a>, Barnes was asked if he\u2019d ever again \u201ctake the stage\u201d with Cannibal Corpse. Like, for example, if \u201cthe\u00a0Rock and Rock Hall of Fame<\/a>\u00a0did welcome death metal and Cannibal Corpse was brought in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, yeah. I\u2019ve always been ready to do that. [Cannibal Corpse] wouldn\u2019t do that, though, because that\u2019s just how they are,\u201d Barnes said. However, the conversation took a slight turn. Barnes went into a lengthy explanation as to why he and his Six Feet Under bandmate, guitarist Jack Owen, would never be welcome to do so.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, they wouldn\u2019t ask me and Jack to go up on stage with them at all,\u201d Barnes said. \u201cIt wouldn\u2019t happen. They would exclude us from it. They might invite us up on stage with them, but they would never want me and Jack to play a song with them or anything like that.\u201d Owen also played in Cannibal Corpse, but left in 2004.<\/p>\n

Loaded Radio host Scott Penfold asked, \u201cWhy do you think that is, Chris? Why do you think that is? It\u2019s so unfortunate?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s a part of [the fact that] they don\u2019t like me, and they also feel \u2013 not to be boastful or conceited at all \u2013 I\u2019m just being truthful \u2014 they feel threatened by my presence as far as a vocalist and my contribution to the band,\u201d the longtime death metal vocalist said.<\/p>\n

Chris Barnes released the first Six Feet Under record, \u2018Haunted\u2019, the same year he was fired from Cannibal Corpse<\/p>\n

Barnes said he feels his former Cannibal Coprse bandmates<\/a> have \u201calways tried to marginalize\u201d his role in the band. \u201cThey\u2019ve always tried to ignore it, and they\u2019ve always, um, just not been very kind to me as far as that has gone,\u201d he said, \u201cbecause it\u2019s been a shadow over \u2013 my contribution to the band \u2013 has always been a shadow to what they\u2019ve tried to keep going and take on themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that\u2019s what they wanted to do. That\u2019s why I was fired from the band, which I\u2019m fine with,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019ve never had a problem with that. I\u2019ve never been bitter about that at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, Barnes added, \u201cI\u2019ve just stated my story and the facts that I know, and I\u2019ve always said it \u2013 that the greatest blessing that\u2019s come my way has been Six Feet Under and my putting this band together because it was my way out of that band \u2019cause I wasn\u2019t happy being in that band at a pretty early point.\u201d<\/p>\n

To be fair, Barnes also did tell Loaded Radio<\/a> that he wanted out of Cannibal Corpse before he was fired.
