The Aglish Bc figheter went through a titanic battle with Drimnagh’s Ruby Cullen, eventually seeing her hand raised in a 3-2 win.

You can watch the entire fight below:

Celebrations were plentiful in Aglish on Monday evening at 8pm, as the community gathered to congratulate the youngster for her victory in the 60kg weight division.

The Mayo folk in attendance didn’t have to wait too long to see their next Mayo champion, as two fights later, Ballyhaunis man Cathal Conlon stepped between the ropes.

Bernie McDonagh from Mullingar’s Elite Boxing Club stood in the red corner. Conlon put on an exemplary display, winning all five rounds to bring home the 60kg title.

You can watch Conlon’s victory here:

The last Mayo athlete to fight in a decider was the excellent Michael Mullaney in the 66 kg division.

Not one to be outdone, a clinical display of ringmanship saw the Claremorris BC star put Antrim native Jude McLaughlin to the sword, winning all five rounds.

Remarkably, this is the youthful puncher’s sixth Irish title, a stunning achievement in itself.

The full fight can be seen here:

Also on the day, the National Junior Two Championship semi-finals saw fighters endeavour to reach the deciders, which get underway on Friday, March 20.

Unfortunately, Joshua Maughan of Ballyhaunis lost out to Avona’s Liam Boland in the 80kg weight class. Fellow Ballyhaunis club member Nikita Webb-McDonagh was also unfortunate to lose out to Muckno’s Maisie Flanagan on Friday at the National Boy/Girl Four Championship finals.

Thankfully, there was also success at the Friday event. Joshua Ward was awarded a walkover in the 108 kg division.

Both Michael Mullaney and Ward received a great welcome when they touched down in Claremorris train station, on what was a great weekend for boxing in many gyms in the county.

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

ADVERTISEMENT – CONTINUE READING BELOW

This weekend, some of the best young boxing prospects of Mayo converged on the National Boxing Stadium in…

[2
163716,21708,61,60,43
0":"post-362242","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ireland","8":"tag-ballyhaunis","9":"tag-claremorris","10":"tag-ie","11":"tag-ireland","12":"tag-news
["GET
