Apple<\/a> is preparing to unveil a new version of its Siri voice assistant that will be more like an artificial intelligence agent and will interact in a conversational way through both text and voice, Bloomberg reported<\/a> Tuesday (March 24), citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n

The updated Siri will be able to tap into messages, notes and emails to respond to requests; complete tasks within apps; access news content; and search the web, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Apple plans to unveil the new Siri on June 8, the first day of its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC<\/a>), the report said.<\/p>\n

Further in the future, Apple\u2019s plans for AI-related products include a standalone app for Siri as well as a new systemwide \u201cAsk Siri\u201d feature that will work across Apple\u2019s apps, per the report, which again cited unnamed sources. The company is currently testing these potential offerings.<\/p>\n

Apple did not immediately reply to PYMNTS\u2019 request for comment.<\/p>\n

The company said in a Monday (March 23) press release<\/a> that it will share its advancements in artificial intelligence at WWDC, which the company will host online June 8-12.<\/p>\n

\u201cWWDC26 will spotlight incredible updates for Apple platforms, including AI advancements and exciting new software and developer tools,\u201d Apple said in the release.<\/p>\n

It was reported March 10 that the company was working on developing an updated version of Siri<\/a> and that this work had delayed a long-awaited launch of Apple\u2019s smart home display device that had been scheduled to launch last year.<\/p>\n

PYMNTS reported in January that Apple CEO Tim Cook said during an earnings call that the company\u2019s AI<\/a>, Apple Intelligence, will serve less as a standalone product and more as an operating-system-level capability that can raise the value of the company\u2019s entire ecosystem and create room to monetize across hardware and services.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re bringing Intelligence to more of what people love,\u201d Cook said. \u201cAnd we\u2019re integrating it across the operating system in a personal and private way. And I think that by doing so it creates great value and that opens up a range of opportunities across our products and services.\u201d<\/p>\n
