Irish stars Andrew Scott and Kerry Condon join Oscar winner Brendan Fraser in the new WWII film Pressure, billed as “a thrilling account of the three-day run-up to D-Day”. <\/p>\n

Teeing up what’s ahead in cinemas this September, StudioCanal said: “In the 72 hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element – the British weather.<\/p>\n

“Britain’s Chief Meteorological Officer, James Stagg (Andrew Scott), is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership.<\/p>\n

“The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on.<\/p>\n

“With only his trusted aide, Captain Kay Summersby (Kerry Condon), to confide in, and haunted by a catastrophic D-Day rehearsal, the final decision rests with Supreme Allied Commander Dwight D Eisenhower (Brendan Fraser).<\/p>\n

“With only hours to go, the fate of the war and the lives of millions hang in the balance.”<\/p>\n

The cast of Pressure also includes Damian Lewis as Field Marshall Bernard Montgomery and Chris Messina as Irving P Krick, “Dwight D Eisenhower’s trusted wartime meteorologist”.<\/p>\n

Pressure is directed by Hotel Mumbai director Anthony Maras and co-written by Maras and actor and playwright David Haig.<\/p>\n

Haig wrote the play upon which the film is based and also played James Stagg in the stage production.<\/p>\n

Pressure will be released in cinemas on Wednesday, 9 September.<\/p>\n
