A woman left fighting for life after being set on fire is walking and talking again – while a gang enforcer has been arrested over her attempted murder.<\/p>\n
Alexis Campion (44) was left with severe burns to most of her body and was in a coma for weeks after a thug set her alight in a shocking attack at the front door of her home in Clondalkin<\/a> last November. But now a family member has revealed that while the mother-of-two has been left “scarred for life,” there is finally hope for the future.<\/p>\n That hope comes as gardai arrested three men on suspicion of attempted murder in a major operation that saw 19 properties raided and armed units involved.<\/a> “She’s doing well, obviously scarred for life but she’s doing her best,” a family member who asked to remain anonymous said.<\/p>\n “She’s not eating properly yet, but she’s talking and walking and she is getting there slowly but surely. We are just trying to keep her spirits up as much as possible in this hard time. She’s my everything and the thought of almost losing her like that was so hard and is still hard to cope with, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. Thank you to Jesus she is still with us.”<\/p>\n Three men, two of which are in their 30s and the other an adult teenager, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and are being held in separate garda<\/a> stations in Dublin<\/a>. One of the arrested men is a serious gangland enforcer who was once a close associate of Glen Ward – the Finglas mob boss once only known as ‘Mr Flashy.’<\/p>\n The enforcer is a known criminal operating in the west Dublin area and is considered to be the main instigator of the attack that saw Alexis doused in an accelerant and set alight as she answered her front door. The criminal is well known to gardai and has previously spent time in prison for the serious assault of a man – who died from injuries sustained in the attack. He was believed to have been centrally involved in a feud that erupted in the Finglas area a number of years ago and is considered a highly volatile gangland criminal.<\/p>\n Gardai believe the gangster was targeting a convicted burglar in relation to a suspected drugs dispute, but when innocent Alexis answered the door, the thug instead set his sights on her.
