Killygordon<\/a> apprentice Ois\u00edn Alexander took home a Silver Medal Award at WorldSkills Ireland 2025.<\/p>\n

Ois\u00edn was the Welding winner within the Manufacturing & Engineering Technology Category. A former Finn Valley College student, Ois\u00edn is now a Metal Fabrication apprentice working for Mooney Boats Ltd.<\/p>\n

Speaking after his win, Ois\u00edn said he was \u201cfairly happy\u201d with the award. He is now moving into Phase 4 of his apprenticeship and hopes to go to WorldSkills Shanghai 2026.<\/p>\n

Cathal McGee, Welding Instructor with Donegal ETB and WorldSkills Ireland Chief Welding Expert, oversaw Ois\u00edn\u2019s training.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did well, he was here last year and he realised what it was all about so he put in a lot of effort in and he came out trumps so I\u2019m delighted for him,\u201d said Cathal.<\/p>\n

A total of ten apprentices from Donegal competed at WorldSkills Ireland 2025, which took place from September 17-19 in the RDS, Dublin.<\/p>\n

The Donegal apprentices also included Aaron Callaghan, competing in Industrial Mechanics; Ciaran Chaney, competing in Cyber Security; Daniel Dalton, competing in Freight Forwarding Logistics; Cathal Doherty, competing in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics; Kyle McLaughlin, competing in Plumbing and Heating; Matthew Shovlin, competing in Automobile Technology; Eoghan Tuttlebee, competing in Carpentry and Patrick Brennan, competing in Metal Fabrication.<\/p>\n
