The security guard who sparked a debacle between popstar Chappell Roan<\/a> and footballer Jorginho has spoken out about the incident.<\/p>\n

On March 22, the former Chelsea and Arsenal player took to social media<\/a> to claim Chappell Roan\u2019s personal security guard had acted in an \u201caggressive\u201d manner towards his 11-year-old daughter during breakfast at a S\u00e3o Paulo hotel. Jorginho said his daughter simply \u201cwalked past the table\u201d while spotting the singer at breakfast \u2013 prompting the guard to \u201cberate\u201d the family<\/a>, leaving their daughter in tears.<\/p>\n

Roan later addressed the claims<\/a>, saying that she \u201cdidn\u2019t even see\u201d the incident take place and that the security guard was not her own.<\/p>\n

Now, security guard Pascal Duvier has broken his silence on the fiasco on an Instagram post. \u201cI do not normally address online rumors, but the accusations currently circulating are false and constitute defamation,\u201d his statement begins.<\/p>\n

Duvier went on to take \u201cfull responsibility\u201d for the incident, and clarified he was at the hotel \u201con behalf of another individual\u201d, and not Chappell Roan.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a judgment call based on information we obtained from the hotel, events I had witnessed in the days prior and the heightened overall security risk of our location,\u201d he added. \u201cMy sole interaction with the mother was calm and with good intentions, and the outcome of the encounter is regretful\u201d.<\/p>\n

Following Jorginho\u2019s post, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro banned the popstar from performing at Todo Mundo no Rio festival<\/a>, adding: \u201cI doubt that Shakira would do that!\u201d<\/p>\n

The incident follows Roan\u2019s now-viral encounter with hordes of paparazzi in Paris,\u00a0in which the pop star said she felt \u201cdisregarded as a human\u201d and turned the tables by filming them.<\/a><\/p>\n

The former NME\u00a0Cover star<\/a> has routinely called out disrespectful behaviour from fans and the music industry, once controversially comparing fame to \u201can abusive ex-husband\u201d<\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n

She has also previously\u00a0shared her thoughts on \u201cweird\u201d and \u201ccreepy\u201d followers<\/a>, calling out the\u00a0\u201cpredatory behaviour\u201d of so-called \u201csuperfans\u201d<\/a>\u00a0that includes \u201cnonconsensual physical and social interactions\u201d,\u00a0and also\u00a0hit back at photographers who yelled at her on the VMAs red carpet.<\/a><\/p>\n
