The current lawsuit alleges that LaBeouf attempted to silence FKA twigs through a settlement document that violated California\u2019s Stand Together Against Non-Disclosure Act (STAND) following her 2020 lawsuit against him.<\/p>\n
In December 2025, LaBeouf alleged that FKA twigs had violated the NDA agreement in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, <\/a>in which the singer was asked whether she felt a \u201csense of safety with the chapter behind her.\u201d She responded, \u201cNo, I wouldn\u2019t say I feel safe,\u201d adding that she feels passionately about supporting organizations that assist survivors.<\/p>\n However, court filing pushed back on LaBeouf’s claims, describing FKA twigs\u2019 statements as \u201claudable, generic, and benign\u201d and arguing that they did not violate the terms of the NDA’s terms \u2014 provisions the filing characterized as illegal and unenforceable.<\/p>\n Mathew Rosengart, an attorney for FKA twigs who also represented Britney Spears in the fight to end the pop star’s conservatorship, told NBC News that his client \u201crefuses to be bullied anymore.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cThis action was taken in response to Mr. LaBeouf\u2019s attempt to bully and intimidate twigs through a frivolous and unlawful secret arbitration he filed against her in December in which he sought to extract money from her,\u201d Rosengart said.<\/p>\n The lawsuit called the settlement\u2019s NDA \u201cvastly overbroad\u201d and in violation of the STAND Act, which forbids NDAs that prevent victims of sexual harassment and abuse from speaking about their experience.<\/p>\n The NDA hinges on LaBeouf\u2019s contention that he is not covered by the STAND Act, according to the court filing. The lawsuit claims that LaBeouf maintains an \u201cerroneous\u201d legal position \u2014 \u201cthat he is somehow not covered by the STAND Act because he was supposedly sued by Ms. Barnett in 2020 only for sexual \u2018battery,\u2019 not sexual \u2018assault.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n The lawsuit previously filed by FKA twigs, which the singer dropped in order to \u201cmove on with her life\u201d according to the current filing, alleged that LaBeouf choked her and threw her against a car on Valentine\u2019s Day 2019. FKA twigs also claimed that the \u201cTransformers\u201d star knowingly gave her a sexually transmitted disease.<\/p>\n LaBeouf\u2019s recent legal trouble in New Orleans,<\/a> where the actor was arrested following accusations of punching several people during Mari Gras celebrations and charged with an additional count of battery weeks later, were also cited in the lawsuit.
