{"id":366798,"date":"2026-03-26T20:49:07","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T20:49:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/366798\/"},"modified":"2026-03-26T20:49:07","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T20:49:07","slug":"hoxton-hotel-still-wants-injunction-against-neighbouring-nightclub-yamamori-izakaya-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ie\/366798\/","title":{"rendered":"Hoxton Hotel still wants injunction against neighbouring nightclub Yamamori Izakaya \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">A new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/hotels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/hotels\/\">Dublin<\/a> city centre <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/hotels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/hotels\/\">hotel<\/a> in dispute with a neighbouring restaurant\/nightclub over alleged noise nuisance is still seeking an injunction despite engagement between the parties, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/high-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/high-court\/\">High Court<\/a> heard. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The Hoxton Hotel, formerly the Central Hotel, on Exchequer Street, has claimed that, because of complaints from its guests about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/night-time-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/night-time-economy\/\">late-night<\/a> music from the adjoining Yamamori Izakaya restaurant\/nightclub, it had to close 31 of its 129 bedrooms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The hotel brought proceedings in February seeking an injunction that would restrain Yamamori from allowing the \u201cemanation of noise of a level, duration or pitch that gives reasonable cause for annoyance to guests\u201d at the hotel. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The case came back before the court on Thursday when Judge Brian Cregan asked barrister Andrew Walker, for the hotel owners, and barrister Gary Compton, for the defendant, if an expedited hearing date could be set \u201crather than battling over the injunction\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Walker said his client is still suffering the loss of rooms and \u201cwill need the injunction\u201d. He said an open offer had been made to the defendant \u201cto hopefully eradicate the problem\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The court heard there may be a joint inspection by experts for each side to assess the measures needed, but, if necessary, Compton said his client would be seeking an order to carry out its own inspection. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The judge made directions for the exchange of papers between the parties and adjourned the case to next month.
